Texas Centers for Infectious Disease Associates (TCIDA) was founded under its original name of Tarrant County Infectious Disease Associates in 1997 in the medical district of Fort Worth, Texas. Founder Dr. Daniel Barbaro established TCIDA with the vision of building a group of highly skilled infectious disease clinical practitioners and researchers on par with the best academic medical centers to serve Fort Worth and surrounding areas. Over the past two decades, the growth and expansion of TCIDA has exceeded Dr. Barbaro’s vision. In August 2018, TCIDA moved into its own office building in the Fort Worth medical district. Then, in June 2019, TCIDA opened its first Dallas office in the Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center building on the campus of Baylor University Medical Center Dallas. TCIDA is now the only private practice infectious disease group to serve the entire DFW Metroplex - both Dallas and Fort Worth - with brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in both cities, infusion centers in both cities, and its own pharmacy.
Renamed Texas Centers for Infectious Disease Associates with the expansion to Dallas, TCIDA now serves the DFW Metroplex with 8 board certified infectious disease physicians, 2 physician assistants, 1 nurse practitioner, 10 nurses, a clinical research team staffed by physicians, 2 pharmacists and a talented and caring support staff. TCIDA is excited to serve all of the infectious diseases needs of its patients and referring physicians. TCIDA is truly committed to partnering with its patients on their healthcare journey. And TCIDA is also committed to providing superior, exceptional service to its vast network of referring physicians across the DFW Metroplex.
TCIDA and the Community
To demonstrate its commitment to the betterment of the North Texas communities it serves, TCIDA participates in events to support and benefit these communities. TCIDA has been a supporter of the AIDS Outreach Center (AOC, www.aoc.org) for many years, and supports the AIDS Walk and the Evening of Hope, which are major AIDS Outreach Center fundraising events. In recognition of TCIDA’s commitment to the AOC community, the AIDS Outreach Center has recognized 2 TCIDA physicians with the AIDS Outreach Center Individual Award of Inspiration: Dr. Daniel Barbaro in 2013, and Dr. Cheryl McDonald in 2019. Also in 2013, the AIDS Outreach Center awarded TCIDA the Organizational Award of Inspiration.
TCIDA also enthusiastically participates in other ways to benefit the community at large. Most recently in August 2019, TCIDA donated funds for the school to purchase school supplies to Sunrise McMillan Elementary School in Fort Worth, which is part of the Fort Worth Independent School District. With the addition of the Dallas office in June 2019, TCIDA is excited to participate in local community efforts in Dallas as well.
